I am interested in finding out if any museums of which you are aware or more specifically their managers are applying learning organization theory a la Peter Senge to their organizations. Wheter a failure or a success, I would be interested in the story. We have two projects going in Canada funded by Human Resources Canada and the Canadian Museums Assoc. One has seven museums investigating Learning Organization Theory in application to their institutions and their daily management lives. Another, which I am running with a colleague, is looking at the Learning Individual, i.e. we are trying to develop a workshop and fieldbook which incorporates the Learning Organization theory to personal career planning or the continuous learning concept. The point is to design resources to reach the variety of cultural workers in the museum field, many of whom are not permanently employed by "institutions" and many of whom may be employment challenged. One comment that I hear often is that the Learning Organization is not necessarily the most creative in its products. Any thoughts? Thanks, Lynne Teather, Museum Studies Program, [log in to unmask] P.S. To Mr. Baron, on rethinking the issue, I take your point!
