In the above quoted paragraph Ms. Teather is undoubtedly referring to my
criticism of the way the book was announced on museum-l.  She should be
advised that my remarks were not meant to register an opinion about the
book, be it pro or con -- but, only to bring to the attention of museum-l
readers the kind of self-serving promotional hype used in the announcement
of this volume -- a tone contrary to the traditional style of this
listserv.  In this regard, I think my message was quite clear and not at
all confusing, at least to those who bothered to read it carefully.  There
is a distinct difference between a confused reader and a confusing text.
It should be obvious to all that I meant to shoot the messenger, not the
message.
