A sort of fun visual guide to museums of oddities, odd halls of fame and general oddities can be found at the new Denver International Airport (where I'm sure many of us may spend some quality time in the next month.) There's a piece by a former Denver artist (can't remember his name) who was also Continental baggage handler, called "America--Why I Love Her" It's two giant wooden maps of the US with b/w pictures of important sites such as "Hole in the Rock" in Moab Utah, The Barbie Museum, "The World's Largest Chair," "The Potato Hall of Fame" bolted onto the appropriate locations on the map. It's fun because people looking at it will say "Oh, I've been there," and strangers start up converstations about different places. I'm not sure if it's worth a trip to DIA in itself (although the mock Mayan temple on concourse C is pretty cool) but if you are there, make a point of checking it out.
