Position description: The MIT Museum is seeking an experienced museum educator to work on a consultant basis 15 hours per week with its curatorial staff to design, plan, implement and evaluate educational programs and materials for K-12 and adult audiences and the MIT community. Responsibilities include audience development, especially outreach to Boston, Cambridge and local schools, youth organizations and community centers; working with collections, curatorial and exhibitions staff on interpretation for exhibitions (including developing educational publications and multimedia applications); and scheduling tours and programs. Qualifications: Candidates for the position of education coordinator should be creative and energetic and have an interest in developing, implementing and overseeing programs around the themes of architecture, naval architecture and maritime history, holography, mathematics, the history of science and technology, and the intersection of art, science and technology. They should also have experience in museum education and program coordination; strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills; and proven consulting experience. A graduate degree is required.
