The Museum Of Bad Art (MOBA), one of the precious jewels in Boston s cultural crown, is proud to announce the grand opening of its new permanent gallery in the basement of the Dedham Community Theater in beautiful downtown Dedham on Mon, Oct. 30, 7:30 PM. The gala opening night exhibition will feature the worst of MOBA s permanent collection as well as the world premier of recent startling new acquisitions. MOBA s esteemed curator Scott Wilson will be on hand to unveil the new pieces and to give a guided tour of the MOBA reject pile. In addition to the physical exhibition, the museum-going public is invited to tour the Virtual Museum Of Bad Art CD-ROM which will be running on computers throughout the theater s lobby. The event is free and open to the public. The opening of MOBA s permanent gallery marks an important milestone for the institution. Since outgrowing it s original basement gallery in a house in West Roxbury, MA, MOBA has lived a nomadic existence, exhibiting wherever and whenever a suitable venue could be found - at Lotus Corp. in June, at Cybersmith in July, in the woods of Cape Cod in Aug., at Montserrat College of Art in Sept. Between MOBA s scheduled events, the bad art loving public has been frustrated in their efforts to view this important collection. Henceforth, the basement gallery on the way to the theater s rest rooms will serve as a permanent home for a rotating exhibition of MOBA s priceless works. We hope and believe that this new MOBA gallery will both strengthen and celebrate the long standing historic links between bad art and movie theater lobbies.
