Does anyone out there have advice on successful booklets/books documenting one's historic house. Our 1812 Wickham House just emerged from a ten-year restoration project. It is interpreted on its own and as the largest artifact in our exhibition on the history of downtown Richmond, Virginia. We have a (little) bit of money and we would like to publish a print piece on the house. What have you found to be effective in conveying the issues important to understanding your house museum? What level do you pitch the narrative? What text/image ratio makes your public happy and enlightened? What sells? Thanks for the advice!
