A special issue of the American Association for State and Local History's *Dispatch* (dated January 20, 1995) contains excellent information about the current funding crisis for the arts and humanities. In the lead article, "Report from Washington: The Time Is Now," Sandi Yoder, an AASLH council member, describes her recent participation in a national conference on education and the arts, held in Washington D.C. In other articles AASLH executive director Patricia Gordon Michael and president Robert Archibald address the topic of federal funding for cultural organizations. Of particular interest in the newsletter are sidebars with information about the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute of Museums Services, and sections titled "What You Need to Know," "Popular Arguments for Budget Reductions: How to Respond," and "Who You Need to Contact: Key Senators and Representatives." Single copies of the *Dispatch* are available free on request from AASLH editor LuAnne Sneddon, 530 Church St., Suite 600, Nashville, TN 37219. Telephone (615) 255- 2971. Fax: (615) 255-2979.
