Apple Computer put up The Virtual Museum (I think that was the title) on CD-ROM a few years ago, as a demo of the then-emerging technology of CD's, and Apple's R&D efforts in supporting sound/images/simulation/etc on Mac/CDROM. It was actually quite ingenious from a computer technical standpoint. Suffered a little on the museum subject matter side, but then I suppose it wasn't particularly supposed to be accurate, just demonstrative. Simulated space, movement in that space controlled by the viewer (to a limited degree), simulated or digitized exhibits with attributes such as _growth_ of a plant or _flight_ over a terrain, etc. No realtime drawing/rendering however that I can remember, unless the flyover was "on the fly"?
