The problem traditionally with UV window film is that its effectiveness is relatively short, perhaps 5 years or so. At least that used to be the case. For some reason, if you have the money to replace the windows with glass that contains UV filtering, that lasts much longer. A more expensive solution would be to use frit glass, which is glass silkscreen with small dots (used, I believe, in Helmut Jahn's United Airlines terminal at O'Hare). I don't know what that does for UV problems, but it can cut down on light transmission to varying degrees according to how you order it. There also are floor to ceiling shades that work similarly to frit glass, the kind of shades Richard Meier has used. Probably a local architectural firm would be able to suggest vendors. The film might be the least expensive solution in the short run, but do ask how long its effectiveness lasts. Good luck. Mike Danoff
