The Army Medical Museum was located on the Mall next to the Arts & Industries
Bldg. It was demolished c.1970 to make way for the Hirshorn Gallery. Yes, the
AMM would have been the likely custodian of Dillinger's tackle, and I always
thought that was the reason the Smithsonian got the credit for having it. But
why Dillinger? AMM also had some bits of John Wilkes Booth - perhaps the body
part is the only constant in the legend, and the malefactor changes to suit
the temper of the times. Oh lord, I feel a paper coming on...
