Well, if we are going to get international with this, there are the famous
"Momias" or mummies of Guanajuato in Mexico. These poor souls died in an
influenza epidemic in the early 1900s, and their relatives couldn't afford the
rent on the catacombs. So the mummies were stored for many years propped up on
shelves. In the last ten years or so, they have been placed in glass cases and
sorted by age and sex. A truly ghoulish display.
