The board of the New-York Historical Society decided to postpone any
ction on a proposed contrct with NYU that would give it effective control
over the society's library and parts of its collections. Wilber L.
Ross Jr., a co-chairman of the society, said a decision has been
deferred until after the board has discussed the terms of the
university affiliation with neighborhood representatives and
elected officials.
