Fort Winnebago Surgeons Quarters (FWSQ) is owned by the Wisconsin Society Daughters of the American Revolution, a non-profit voluntary women's organization whose objectives are historic preservation, patriotism and education. FWSQ was purchased by WSDAR in 1938, restored and
opened to the public as a museum in 1954. The Surgeons' Quarters was built by Frances Le Roi, a French fur trader in about 1820. The log house is one of the few log buildings in Wisconsin that stands on the site where it was built. From 1825- 1845 the property was owned by the United States Army and was a part of Fort Winnebago. The building is the only remaining building of Fort Winnebago. The house is furnished with original artifacts, many
from Fort Winnebago. Also on the property is the Garrison Schoolhouse, that served as the school continuously from 1850-1960.
