Position Announcement

Minnetrista creates awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the
natural and cultural heritage of East Central Indiana.  It is a
fifteen-year-old heritage institution located on a forty acre campus along
White River in downtown Muncie, Indiana.  Its service area includes 500,000
people.  It has 65 employees, 350 active volunteers and more than 1,200
households in its membership program.  Minnetrista's annual operating budget
is $3.2 million dollars.

Minnetrista, East Central Indiana's Center for Natural and Cultural
Heritage, invites applications the position of Programs Manager.  The
Programs Manager will work directly with the Vice President/Director of
Programs to maintain and oversee the quality of programming.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate must have a bachelor's degree and at least three to five years
informal education experience.  Must have experience in developing age
appropriate curriculum.  Must have at least three to five years management
and supervisory experience.  Must have experience in the museum environment
with the understanding of formal and informal learning.  Must be child
oriented, flexible and able to work successfully with all learning styles.
Strong oral/written communication and organizational skills.  Must have
exceptional computer skills.  Ability to speak to large and small groups
with ease.  Must be familiar with and support inquiry-based education.  Must
be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule.  Because this position
requires solo travel, a valid driver's license is required.  Reasonable

perform the essential functions.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-         Supervise and provide leadership and support to Educators, Lead
Interpreter and Programs Assistant.

-         Coordinate the development and evaluation of a campus wide
interpretive program to include: Cultural Center, galleries, gardens, Nature
Area, Ball homes, Spirit of Oakhurst and the Greenway.

-         Ensure that programming is mission related with core support.

-         Develop and facilitate adult life long learning programming
including Minne-trips.

-         Oversee and evaluate the development and implementation of school
tours to insure age-group appropriateness and connection to state
educational standards.

-         Oversee and evaluate the development and implementation of family
programming.

-         Main contact for affiliate groups with respect to programming.

-         Write and coordinate copy for marketing and promotional materials.

-         Oversee and evaluate the integration of Interactive Video
Conferencing into core programming.

-         Cultivate and maintain volunteers and interns.

-         Perform all other duties required.
