Curator of Exhibitions, ExhibitsUSA The Curator of Exhibitions is responsible for the identification and implementation of new exhibition proposals into the ExhibitsUSA traveling exhibition program. This position serves as the facilitator between ExhibitsUSA and all exhibition organizers and requires the ability for clear, detailed, and timely communication. The Curator of Exhibitions serves as an ExhibitsUSA representative at local and national conferences, performing site visits, and in meetings with potential exhibition organizers. The Curator of Exhibitions reports and is accountable to the Director of ExhibitsUSA. Responsibilities include: identifying exhibition proposals; coordinating organizational activity relating to exhibition development, including budgets and timelines; working closely with freelance and museum curators, lenders, and presenting institutions; and assisting marketing staff with questions related to exhibition contents and tour scheduling. Qualifications: Ph.D. in art history, applied history, museum studies, or equivalent esperoience. Excellent communication, writing, and project management skills; three to five years experience in a museum or related environment coordinating multi-loan exhibitions; and a successful record of project implementation and management. Candidates must also have a general knowledge of museum theory, practice, and operations and be capable of operating in a team-based, multidisciplinary organization.
