KENTUCKY HERITAGE INITIATIVE -DATABASE COORDINATOR Speed Art Museum is seeking a part-time/contract Research and Database Coordinator for a minimum one-year project to develop, launch and maintain an internet-based image database of Kentucky fine arts, decorative arts, folk arts and related designs. BA in art history, library or information sciences with experience in database management, digital photography and working with visual resources. Background in pre-1950 American art history or American decorative arts preferred. This position reports to the Curator of Decorative Arts. Project is expected to require an average of 20-hours/week. Candidates should be organized, possess strong writing and research skills, and be able to demonstrate success working independently on projects. Duties include but are not limited to: assisting in the development of the project mission statement; interacting with project donors and object owners; developing standards, procedures, and forms for the gathering of information, and for the cataloguing, storage and retrieval of images and film; working with agreements, copyrights, and releases; coordinating the development and design of the database application and user interfaces; testing, launching and maintaining the database; developing partnerships with other institutions; and generating and collecting images of public and private collection objects. This part-time contract position may be renewable annually dependent on funding.
