Registration Ends: March 19, 2004. The National Park Service Northeast
Region, Regional Plan Association, and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum
are hosting the conference "Great Places, Great Debates: Opening Historic
Sites to Civic Engagement" on April 1 & 2, 2004 at the Center for
Architecture, NY, NY. This conference will present successful models and
provide the opportunity for participants to explore the role historic
sites and museums can play in the civic life of our communities. Through
interactive workshops, tours, and training sessions, innovators in the
field from across the country will share their strategies for fostering
civic engagement at historic sites and museums, expanding their
interpretation to include multiple perspectives, and connecting the
heritage of the nation to its present and future. For more information,
