My organization is constructing a new museum with a new collection storage area. The storage area will have mobile storage units on rails. However, the flooring will be a concrete slab with a raised floor made of plywood and a Vinyl floor covering. I'm concerned about these flooring materials. The designer told me that the plywood is set aside for 90 days to let it off gas. Is this common? Does this solve the off-gasing problem? Does anyone know about Vinyl floor coverings? Do they off-gas? I appreciate any comments. I don't want to have these materials installed if they are going to cause damage to the collection.
