MUSEUM INTERNSHIP Department of Fine Arts The Jewish Museum (New York City, NY) Responsibilities: Assist Curator of Fine Arts and Department of Fine Arts staff with all phases of daily museum business. The intern may be assigned specific projects related to cataloguing of collection, maintenance of object and artists' files, and visual resources in the collection. Duties will also include research, correspondence and general administration in connection with acquisitions, exhibitions and loans. The fine arts collection of the Jewish Museum includes approximately 7,500 paintings, sculptures, works on paper and photographs mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries, with emphasis on contemporary and American art. The intern may have the opportunity to be involved in special exhibitions within the Fine Arts Department. Required background: B.A. candidates in Art History preferred (sophomores or juniors preferred). Knowledge of Microsoft Word, and excellent organizational and clerical skills essential. Hebrew, French or German helpful but not required.
