We are developing a diorama of the Illinois and Michigan Canal( built in the 1830's and opened in 1848) for our core exhibit on Joliet Area History. As part of this diorama, there will be full sized mannequins of workers and a foreman working on the canal. Our designers need to know what type of clothing would be appropriate for these mannequins. I would appreciate knowing what canal workers on other canals wore. We are also going to replicate rope used by the workers. Does anyone know what material and braiding would be appropriate? I also see that you have a collection of steel industry information. We are also replicating a steel company welder from circa 1900. If you have any ideas as to how he would be dressed, it would also be extremely helpful. Thanks for any information. ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information: The Museum-L FAQ file is located at http://www.finalchapter.com/museum-l-faq/ .
