EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.  Illinois State Historical Society, a not-for-profit
organization based in
Springfield, Illinois.  Works with the Board of Directors to provide
leadership and implement the
Society's goals, policies and programs; will spearhead organizational
development, including
membership recruitment, fundraising and grant writing; will also oversee
daily operations, including
preparation of budgets and publication of quarterly newsletter, annual
calendar, and popular history
magazine; will cooperate with editor to publish the quarterly Journal of the
Illinois State Historical
Society; will supervise full- and part-time staff, and present Society
programs to the membership
and the general public.  Undergraduate degree in history or related field,
ability to interpret Illinois
history to a wide variety of constituencies, five years experience, and
proven track record of
successful membership development and/or fund raising required; masters
degree and knowledge
of Illinois and/or local history desirable.  Salary: $43,000 - $55,000, plus
benefits, depending upon
