Museum Historical Interpreter (Position 00050)
The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is seeking a qualified individual to
present costumed interpretation and learn to demonstrate craft skills
which depict the culture, events and concerns of 17th- and/or
18th-century Virginia colonists, mariners, Powhatan Indians, Continental
military and/or 1780's farm life to educate museum visitors and school
groups. TO QUALIFY: Strong and effective oral communication skills;
ability to present and maintain a warm and enthusiastic demeanor with
vistiors and co-workers; knowledge of and ability to learn recognized
teaching methods; ability to read and assimilate information; ability to
work cooperatively and collaboratively as a contributing member of a
team; capable of mastering historical knowledge of 17th- and/or
18th-century Virginia history and culture; ability to demonstrate or
produce historic crafts. Public contact, historical interpretation or
teaching experience a must. Degree in history, anthropology, education,
communication or museum studies preferred. SALARY: $19,811-$20,713 WITH
VIRGINIA STATE BENEFIT PACKAGE. TO APPLY: Submit a Virginia state
