The Manitoba Crafts Council is seeking a part-time Curator for the
Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library.
Duties include:
Oversee daily operations of the museum and library; Manage two important
current projects:
1) Millennium Move: Preserving our Heritage-Crafting a Future
(Re-location project)
2) Conservation Project: Recovery from Water Damage: Phase IV
Oversee and manage the budget and finances of the museum and library;
perform general museum duties including: registration, collections
management and basic collections care, exhibit preparation; work closely
and harmoniously with volunteers, Board members and staff.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in museum-related discipline or significant museum
experience, background and training. Excellent organizational and
inter-personal skills. Knowledge and experience with grants, fundraising
and project management. Background in crafts, history and/or women's
studies is a definite asset.
Period of employment and pay:
This position is for a 6-month maternity leave replacement starting
early April 2000. There will be a review of the position after 6 months
by the Museum and Library Committee. A 6 - 9 month extension will be
offered pending a satisfactory result of the review.
17 hours per week @ $16.00 per hour. Attendance at monthly evening
Board meetings is required. Flexibility in hours of work can be
discussed.
