Director of Education (IL)

The Center for American Archeology, a private not-for-profit research and
educational institution in the Lower Illinois Valley for over forty years,
seeks a Director of Education. The Director of Education will work directly
with the Executive Director, Director of Research, education staff, and
administrative support staff. The successful candidate will be central in the
restructuring and development of new educational programming.
The Center is engaged in public and academic education, cultural resource
management, collections research, and independent research projects. Our
education facilities include a repository with over eleven million objects,
research library, laboratories, dormitories, and classrooms. Qualifications
for this position include a M. A. in Anthropology or Education with
Anthropology minor. At least 3 years of administrative and managerial
experience in education, research or museum education, and knowledge of field
archeology techniques are essential. Interaction with the media, general
public, staff, and students requires strong communication (written, verbal
and interpersonal), conceptual, strategic planning, creative and coordination
skills. The ability to initiate, implement, and complete projects is vital.
Solid experience developing budgets, cost controls, staff supervision and
grant writing experience are preferred. Familiarity with not-for-profit
organizations helpful.
