Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, Chicago, IL

The Adler is the world’s leading planetarium and astronomy museum and the
foremost resource for astronomy and space science education.  Located on
Chicago’s beautiful lakefront, an extensive renovation and expansion of
the museum has recently been completed. The Adler has now partnered with
NASA and is seeking accomplished, motivated, enthusiastic and energetic
candidates to participate in the launch of a major new education
initiative.  The Adler invites applications for five positions in the
Education and Technology Department.

Position:  Instructional Designers (2)
Instructional Designer:  Lead Educator for Technology Programs
Duties and Responsibilities: Directs a team of educators in the
application of existing and emerging communication technologies to deliver
Adler educational resources, including exhibits, collections, curriculum
support materials and family learning activities to the broadest possible
audience.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:  Masters degree in
instructional technology, curriculum and instruction, science education or
other closely related field of education required, some background in the
natural sciences preferred.  Experience in the design, development, and
evaluation of instructional materials and interactive experiences
delivered via computer-based technologies, WWW, video or other
technologies required. Must lead a diverse staff of educators, assistant
educators, and volunteers.  Must communicate effectively, orally and in
writing.

Instructional Designer:  Lead Educator for Formal Programs
Duties and Responsibilities: Directs a team of educators in the design,
development, delivery and evaluation of meaningful and effective
educational experiences and curriculum materials that utilize Adler
astronomy and space science resources to support science, mathematics, and
technology education reform in the schools and promote life-long learning
in the community.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:  Masters degree in
instructional technology, curriculum and instruction, science education or
other closely related field of education required, some background in the
natural sciences preferred.  Experience in instructional development
required, along with previous K-12 teaching experience. Must lead a
diverse staff of educators, assistant educators, and volunteers.  Must
communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.










Position:  Science Educators (3)
Educator for Informal Programs
Duties and Responsibilities: Contributes, as a team member, to the design,
development, delivery and evaluation of meaningful and effective
educational experiences for the casual museum visitor.  These include
gallery programs and demonstrations, observatory experiences, and other
special events. Participates in the design, development and evaluation of
exhibits and planetarium shows.  Required Education, Experience, and
Skills:  A  Bachelor’s degree in education or the natural sciences
required, additional course work in an appropriate discipline (science,
education, evaluation, instructional design, technology) preferred.  Must
have prior experience working with the public, museum setting preferred.
Must communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and possess
excellent interpersonal skills.

Educator for Formal Programs
Duties and Responsibilities: Contributes, as a team member, to the design,
development, delivery and evaluation of meaningful and effective
educational experiences and curriculum materials that utilize Adler
resources to support science, mathematics, and technology education reform
in the schools and promote life-long learning in the community. Required
Education, Experience, and Skills: A
Bachelor’s degree in education or the natural sciences required,
additional course work in an appropriate discipline (science, education,
evaluation, instructional design, technology) preferred.  Must have prior
experience working with the public, museum setting preferred. Must
communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and possess excellent
interpersonal skills.

Educator for Technology Programs
Duties and Responsibilities: Contributes, as a team member, to the
