The Arizona Historical Society in Tucson had a school project for sixth
graders and above that utilized both the library and outside resources. The
students were sent to the local cemetery (specifically, an older site which
still had headstones). They picked out a person and went to the Historical
Society's library to research the life of that "pioneer". Now, there was some
tweaking by the education person. He went to the cemetery first, and flagged
those headstones that the library had information about. The assignment was
very popular and had the impact of making history come alive for the students.
