Dear colleagues,
WITH APOLOGIES FOR ANY CROSS-POSTINGS
If you're interested in finding out more about one of the UK's largest,
independent art schools, which also serves as a major tourist and heritage
attraction, then log on to the Glasgow School of Art's updated web site at
www.gsa.ac.uk
The site contains information on our extensive eductional programs, our
archives and the internationally recognised museum collection centred on the
work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. You can also join our Friends and
American Friends programs and shop on-line for Mackintosh-related merchandise.
Also, in October this year the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC will
be hosting a major european Art Nouveau exhibition currently on show at the
V&A in London. This features Glasgow as the only UK city.
Glasgow School of Art intends to put together a series of independent
lectures and events in DC and surrounding states to complement this major
exhibition. These would focus on the international role of Mackintosh and
the Glasgow School c.1900 but contemporary issues surrounding the current
role of the School as a renowned educational institution might also be
addressed. Dates and venues have still to be confirmed but if anyone's
interested at this early stage then please let me know off-list.
Thanks
Peter Trowles M.Litt., FRSA
