Good afternoon to everyone!!!
I will be taking a course in Museums and Historic Sites next term as a
requirement for my Diploma in Heritage Resource management. Anyway, we
will be focusing on "the Past" and how it is created, our involvment,
politics of exhibit, etc. Very much a class revolving around critical
theory. Anyway, I was thinking of a potential essay topic and something
that cmae ot mind was the role of the gift shop in a museum. How does it
interact within the institution; what notions of the past does it
present to the public, what sort of atmospheric conditions does it have and
how does that correspond with the Museum's presentation, mission, etc. I
was wondering if anyone knew of any previous research on this subject and,
if so, if they could send the references. I would really appreciate that.
Thanks
Adrienne Roberts
