Laura,
I might add to your list:
Hula-Hoop
skate board
Yo-yo (maybe 19th c., not sure)
E-Z Bake Oven
Erector Sets
Monopoly, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, Life, Clue (Mystery Date was a
personal favorite)
Creepy Crawlers (that totally cool yet probably dangerous heating gizmo for
making your own rubber bugs)
Jr. Chemistry Sets
Remote-control cars, airplanes
8 Ball
Twister
Play-Doh (sp???)
Tonka Trucks
Hot Wheels
Electric trains (19th or 20th c.?)
Fooz Ball
Air Hockey
Bongo Board (may have 19th c. origins, but I think of them as totally '60s.)
Transformers
Hippity-Hops
Roller Blades
All the video games - Pong, Nintendo, Playstation...
For later century toys, ask some kids and teenagers what they consider to be
"museum worthy" toys. Furby, Pokeman are two '90s toys that come immediately
to mind.
Oh, and that's MR. Potato Head, but don't forget his lovely wife, Mrs.
Potato Head!!!
Check the AAM Directory index under museum type for toy museums.
Good luck, sounds like a fun project!

Hello from Northern Michigan-
I am working on a 20th century exhibit, one element of which is toys.
I need some help! First, where is there a toy museum or a museum with
a good 20th century toy collection? Who should I contact? Second, I
want to tap your brains--what are the favorite toys of the 20th
century? Here are some I think may rate highly (for my half-century):
Potato Head, Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, Slinky, Etch-A-Sketch, Legos,
Barbie, GI Joe, Candy Land, Ouiji Board. What think you??
