Dear Laurel,
I suggest that you try American Bottles and Flasks and Their Ancestry by
Helen McKearin and Ken Wilson, published by Crown in 1978. Someone just
replied suggesting Olive Jones as a resource. I fully agree. She is one of
the authors of the Parks Canada Glass Glossary, which is packed with great
information for describing and dating bottles. A great source for
19th-century glass in general is Ken Wilson's 2 volume set, The Toledo
Museum of Art American Glass 1760-1930, published in 1994. If you have
problems locating these books or have other questions please feel free to
