DIRECTOR OF VISITOR SERVICES
The Baltimore Museum of Art is seeking an innovative, customer
service-oriented professional to direct the museum's expanding visitor
services program. Reporting to the Deputy Director for Marketing and
Communications, this newly created position will lead a team in developing
and implementing plans to ensure positive visitor experiences in support of
the museum's goals of attracting and serving a broad and diverse audience.
Responsibilities include: Develop and manage plans to enhance visitor
amenities such as way-finding, signage and printed materials. Develop and
implement a museum-wide customer service program including on-going staff
training. Oversee audience research initiatives to interpret audience
satisfaction and visitation patterns. Position also oversees management of
the BMA Box Office, including computerized admissions and scheduling
systems. Manage departmental staff and budgets. Recruit, train and
schedule volunteers to greet and provide maximum service to all visitors.
Qualifications: 3-5 years managerial-level experience in customer or
hospitality services, preferably in a museum or performing arts
organization. Superior customer service, communications and interpersonal
skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and
mobilize resources are essential. Experience with audience research and
evaluation preferred. BA degree. Salary commensurate with experience and
excellent benefits.
