hi all-
i worked as a while as an art consultant, and it's very sales-oriented,
which also translates to a very marketable skill/job. essentially, you
will need to get clients (cold calling and finding out who might need your
services), trying to get ahold of the person who is responsible for that
need in the company, trying to meet them and sell them on gettting
artworks, and actually finding artworks. it's easier, of course, when you
start to accumulate long-term clients, because you can get right to the
selling. ummm..what else can i tell you? it's primarily, i think,
sales-oriented, and you might be paid partially/fully on a commission
basis.
if you like sales as well as art, it could be a good bet for you.
hope this helps, and good luck! meryl zwanger
