As promised--and at long last (due to some system glitches)--I've
finally been able to update the employment web site I first made
available on June 1. A variety of new links have been added to the
bottom of each category, with the exception of Temporary Employment,
and a number of nonprofit/museum sites were suggested in last month's
discussions have beeen added.
The site contains head hunters, resumes, professional jobs,
comprehensive employment sites, nonprofit and museums (a good number of
sites in a variety of categories), temporary jobs, and employment
topics.
New in the employment topics is another web site I did in the last
month. It contains a synopsis of the new guidelines published by the
EEOC on June 21, 1999, concerning employer liability for harassment by
its supervisory staff. It is an abridged form of the longer version
(also included on the page) and cuts out much of the legalese so that
the lay person can get a better understanding of the subject matter.
Museums are not exempted from such liabilities, and it would behoove
many to become familiar with what is available.
If others have employment sites to nominate, feel free to send them to
me for potential inclusion in the next round.
This is a good way for the "newbies" and "just graduateds" to get a
feel for what's available in the profession.
Feel free to spread this link around liberally (it's had almost 3,000
hits since June 1 and continues to sustain momentum around the web),
and remember to check back periodically as changes will be made.
