Dear Cyber friends,
On Monday September 27th at 11:09 AM I sent an urgent request for
listmembers assistance on behalf of a flooded museum here in Rocky Mount
,North Carolina.
The director was overwhelmed with the clean up task at hand. I had spoken to
her just after they opened cargo containers where they had stored their
natural history collection for hurricane protection only to find all
contents awash in contaminated water. I acted as relay to her home computer
with your replies.
I particularly would like to thank;
Mike McNall and Valerie Thorp of the Royal British Columbia Museum,Victoria
B.C.Canada
Patricia Miller from the western prairies
Greg Fitz and Helen Alten from the Northern States Conservation Center in
St.Pal Minn.
Bridget Jones from Bonham Texas
Sonia from the National Task Force Emergency Response group
David Arnold from Tryon Palace in New Bern NC
I would like to share an excellent website created by the kind folks of The
Northern States Conservation Center in St.Paul Minnesota. It is the best I
have seen to date and worth "bookmarking" .A special thankyou to Helen
Alten and all the staff who generously share so much good conservation
knowledge with a down to earth approach.

And to John Chadwick who responded so quickly, your list is an invaluable
service to the museum community and communities around the globe.
Since we can't see John blush -warm fuzzies to you John !
Sincerely
Len Hambleton - Chief Conservator
