The National Museum of American History is seeking a Museum Registration Technician to work in our office of Registration Services. This is a permanent, full-time federal position at GS-7 with a starting salary of $28,866 - $37,522.
The incumbent of this position will handle the Museum's incoming loans in compliance with Museum policies and procedures and will advise Museum staff and outside lenders on same. He/she will coordinate shipments, insurance coverage, and legal protections for the Museum; prepare statistical reports; and research collection records to resolve loan questions and problems. Will also participate in automating loan, insurance, shipping, and damage/loss records, as well as developing applicable reports.
To meet minimum qualifications, the applicant must show:
~knowledge of registration practices with an emphasis on processing loans.
~skill in keeping manual and automated records.
To be highly qualified, applicants must show:
~knowledge of collections management functions, including registration, documentation, preservation, and storage.
~knowledge of registration practices with an emphasis on processing loans.
~skill in working collaboratively with a diverse group of people - - at varying levels - inside and outside the museum.
