Chicago Academy of Sciences
Audio-Visual Technicians
The Chicago Academy of Sciences is currently hiring part-time Audio-Visual
Technicians to support electronic media operations in the Nature Museum.
The Nature Museum utilizes contemporary exhibit technology and
infrastructure to support museum exhibits and distance-learning activities.
Audio/visualtechnolgy includes analog and digital video systems, analog
and digital audio systems, as well as over 50 computers in public areas.
Technicians are responsibile for the ordinary operation and maintenace of
systems in exhibition galleries, and provide occasional operation and
maintenace
assistance for systems in the museum auditorium. Techicians will work on
weekends and on weekday evenings.
Candidates must be familiar with video projection systems, analog and
digital video playback systems, MacOS systems, MS Windows systems, and
digital
audio systems.
A BA/BS plus production or post-production experience in one or more
media, the ability to collaborate with non-specialists, and a serious
interest in
informal science education are required skills.
