Hello listers,
I'm looking for any study or literature on the rate of deterioration of
masking tape. For example, if masking tape is applied to tissue paper
to keep the paper secure around the artifact, what would be the rate of
deteriorate of the masking tape? When the adhesive changes through
time, at what rate will the adhesive migrate (if it does?) through the
tissue paper, potentially harming the artifact? Please note that I'm
not advocating the use of the masking tape, just trying to learn about
possible damage in the collections.
Thank you,
Kara J .Hurst
