Others have posted some specific information, but I wanted to add that
consistency is important too. Although I have limited conservation
experience, I would hazard the opinion that a lot of fluctuation (say, more
than 10% or 10 degrees - anyone have any ideas on this #?) is more harmful
to collections than an environment that is a little too warm, or a little
too humid.

Subject: Humidity in Museums
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone out there has experience or knowledge of humidity
inside museums. I am currently involved in compiling data regarding the
humidity levels in our exhibit hall. We have hygrometers strategically
placed throughout the building and I have been developing a spreadsheet with
the accumulated data. What I am wondering is, what humidity level is
considered acceptable in a museum environment?
Thanks,
