A lot of what you say has merit, however if you want to work in the museum
field you should be aware that employers looking for a candidate have been
known to throw away applications without even looking at them because of
lack
of a degree. It is educational inflation. It is getting to the point where
even a MFA is not enough. A lot of jobs have a prerequisite of a doctorate.
I am not saying this is necessarily a good thing, just reality.
