Job Description (9/99)
General Responsibilities include:
In absence of Department Manager, oversees the public relation function
Writes and distributes press releases on various Hall of Science
activities (i.e., special events, openings, new hires, new grant awards,
etc.)
Follows-up on press release mailings with calls to members of the local
press
Writes and edits copy for flyers, brochures, and other collateral
materials when required for public relations, marketing, public programs
and education
Writes selected articles for Hall of Science Newsletter
Arranges and coordinates with graphics various photo shoots for the Hall
of Science
Assists in handling the press during special events and exhibit openings
(weekends included)
Assists in handling special Member’s Events at the Hall of Science
Serves as point person for various public relations outreach efforts
Oversees content of web site editorial, working with outside firm
Experience
Needs experience in writing press releases, flyers, media alerts, pitch
letters, newsletter articles and other public relations and
marketing-related collateral materials
Knowledge of press and media relations
Bachelors degree, preferably in communications, journalism, marketing or
public relations; and a minimum of 3-5 years public relations experience
Combination of experience and education equivalent to the above
Low $30's; excellent benefits
