The Tech Museum of Innovation 
Full-Time Opening
Travel and Group Sales Manager

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Travel and Group Sales Manager is a full-time exempt position reporting
to the Vice President of Marketing and Public Affairs, and is responsible
for developing and implementing a marketing and sales plan to reach three
distinct markets:  leisure travel, group travel and tour group markets. 

Responsibilities:	
-Develop and implement an annual group sales marketing plan that will
include budgets, strategies and tactical plans, to reach annually-set goals
in the tour, travel and group market.
-Working closely with the Business Operations Department and Gallery
Operations Department, develop solutions to a wide range of complex
marketing and customer service challenges to build and integrate a group
market into the attendance stream of visitation to the museum.
-Handle in a highly-professional manner all travel industry and local and
regional group marketing, sales and solicitation and building into these
relationships a strong branding of The Tech, its mission and purpose.
-Develop and implement a plan to market and represent The Tech at
appropriate industry meetings, conventions and trade. 
-Serve as key Tech liaison and contact with Convention and Visitors Bureaus
and other groups familiarization tours.  Coordinate site inspections for
the travel and group trade.  Answer all tourism inquiries from tour
operators and following-up with travel agents and tour operator leads.
-Maintain cooperative relationships with local hotels and travel industry.
-Generate monthly sales forecasts and reports.
-Develop and maintain group and tour operator client database.
-Develop travel industry and group sales marketing materials and internal
policies and procedures for handling group and tour operator visitors.
Work closely with Admissions and Group Reservations to ensure high level of
excellent customer services with the group/tour market.
-Develop and coordinate strategic travel and tourism marketing plan.
Manage resources and tactical work plans in support of those plans.
-Work as museum floor staff on assigned week days, weekend days and
holiday. (Assignments include one week day or weekend day per month and one
holiday annually.)


 Qualifications,  Skills and Attributes:
• 2-5 years of marketing or sales experience in travel or other nonprofit
industry or other related experience.
• Proven ability to plan, develop and implement successfully a marketing
and sales plan with limited budget and staff.
• Must be a self-starter, flexible, entrepreneurial, creative,
cost-conscious, and have a high degree of energy and dedication, with
positive "can do" attitude.
• A sense of the group and travel marketplace, knowledge of sales and
marketing dynamics and ability to handle database, comfort with data
analysis and budgeting.
• Excellent customer service abilities, with track record of follow-through
and good sales and selling ability.
• Proven ability to work effectively with a team working on common goals
and to manage projects to completion with limited staff support; and
ability to supervise staff and projects.
• Excellent time management, organizational & communications skills
(written, listening and presentation skills).
• College degree or equivalent work experience required, preferably in
marketing, public relations or tourism/hospitality industry.
• Travel may be required.
