Hello.

We have, what appears to be a photographic
print done on a piece of satin. It is signed
and dated 1886. At some time in the past
century, the frame and backing got wet and
left the satin print with flecks of mildew.

Would the best course of action be to try
to stabilize the piece and to keep the
mildewed spots from spreading, or can the
spots be removed from the print entirely?
If so, what is the best method?

I could certainly use the sage advise of the
list members with this problem.

Thank you,
dkw
