I requested a list of conservators from AIC, but thought perhaps someone on
the List may have had similar work done and will have a recommendation.
I have two wagons used a passenger coaches on the 350-mile trail between
Fairbanks and Valdez in the early 1900s. Both wagons have been outside for
decades and have some rotten wood and missing pieces. They will likely be
exhibited outside again, however I was able to find indoor storage for the
winter. I'm looking for advice on their preservation. My inclination is to
stabilize one and restore the other so we have one with historical integrity
and one that looks as it did when in use. We are in Alaska, so I'm looking
for a conservator in the Western U.S. Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Jerrie
