The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology has the pleasure of announcing
the creation of the new JOSEPH F. CHANCE PREPARATOR'S AWARD. The
purpose of this award is to further the field of Vertebrate
Paleontology
through preparation and the study of materials and methods used to
reveal and preserve fossil information.
An annual award of $5,000 (1998 dollars; $5,100 for the 1999 award)
will
be given to a deserving proposal. More than one proposal may be funded
by division of the award if deemed appropriate. Examples of proposals
to
be funded include preparator training, materials and equipment for
preparation laboratories, research and publication emphasizing
preparation, and support for presentations at the annual SVP
Preparation, Materials and Methods Symposium.
DEADLINE FOR PROPOSAL SUBMISSION: July 1, 1999 postmark
