Institute for Learning Innovation
Professional Development Seminar
June 17, 1999

"Building a Methodology to Evaluate Your Web Site"
presented by John Chadwick, Ph.D.
Senior Research Associate, Institute for Learning Innovation

We define goals and objectives that can be measured when developing
traditional museum exhibits, but in the rush towards developing online
resources, little effort has been made to understand the behaviors of
online users. As the medium of the Web matures, the need for
understanding our online visitors is becoming increasingly important.
This workshop will explore the state of current research of online user
behavior and the methodological limitations of such research.

Dr. John Chadwick is a Senior Research Associate with the Institute of
Learning Innovation. Prior to joining the Institute, Dr. Chadwick worked
with the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and the New Mexico Office
of Cultural Affairs as a network administrator and Web
administrator. He is also the founder of Museum-L, a cross-disciplinary
Internet discussion list for museum professionals. Dr. Chadwick's
dissertation was titled: "A Survey of Characteristics
and Patterns of Behavior in Visitors to a Museum Web Site."
