To all:
I will attest to the fact that there is a shortage of
info tech folks within museums and, in general, the
non-profit world. I am stunned (although that is
ebbing now) when I walk into a museum and they are
using old 486 machines or Apple IIe's or, gasp,
typewriters.
I think that people looking for jobs in IT should look
at the regular jobs (I am a program assistant) and
then find ways to get IT into their jobs. After a few
years of regular +IT, you can parlay that into a full
scale IT/museum/non-profit job. (Or go consulting as
I do.)
I know a while back I had mentioned that I was trying
to put together a "Home for Wayward Web Designers"
(HWWD). Well that hasn't happened that quickly. So I
would like to put the word out that if anyone has a
short article or tech tip for designers/techies in the
museum world that might be useful for this web site
please let me know. I think we could make it into a
real designers showcase (for those of us that happened
into the web world by accident).
Thanks all!
