I am currently in my first semester in the Art Education program at UT
Austin. I was choosing between this program and the one at Stanford--this
one appealed b/c of its focus on studio art and art history (1/3 of your
classes are art ed and the other two thirds are art history or studio art)/
So far I'm enjoying my classes and am happy with my decision. I also did
an internship at the Asian Art Museum in the education dept. One of my two
supervisors (the school programs coordinator) was a graduate of the
Stanford program and the other (adult programs coordinator) had her MA in
Japanese Art.
I am interested though in the opinions of some of the professionals out
there--are straight MA students chosen over Art Ed master's for positions?
Are Ph.D's preferrable for non-curatorial positions as well?
Thanks,
Aimee
