A documentary about Barbie doll collectors, called "Barbie Nation" aired on
the PBS series P.O.V. in the summer of 99 or 98. You can check their
website at www.pov.org. They usually list distributor information for past
films. Otherwise you can call them.

Subject: Barbie collectors
I have been working with Carol Spencer, newly retired chief designer at
Mattel, on an idea for an exhibition about First Lady reproduction gowns.
The gowns are specifically made for a Barbie size doll. From a recent
design competition at the Barbie Collector's annual conference we had a
small number of "First Lady" dressed dolls meet the mark. Now I am
looking for other sample dolls or collections that are dressed a la First
Lady. Anyone out there know of a collector that has dolls, Barbie size,
dressed in First Lady style costumes? I understand there is someone in
Ann Arbor, Michigan and another one living in Huntsville, Alabama. I
already have a tip on Madame Alexander dolls dressed as first ladies.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
