The Ohio Historical Society seeks a candidate with energy and vision to
coordinate the two-year capital-funded Archives/Library Museum Access
project. The Collection Access Coordinator will lead a team effort to
increase physical and electronic access to the society's archival and
museum collections.
Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for developing and
managing short-term projects, supervising technicians, processing,
arranging, describing, cataloging and digitizing collections and
converting paper finding aids into electronic format (HTML or SGML).
Qualifications: A well-qualified candidate will have a master's degree
in library or information science and at least one year's experience in
an archives, special library or museum. He or she must have a working
knowledge of Ohio and American history, archival theory and practice,
automated library systems such as Horizon, MARC cataloging, HTML coding
and EAD. Museum experience is especially desirable. Excellent
communication skills and ability to use common office software are
essential.

The Ohio Historical Society seeks applicants to fill the position of
Archives Library Museum Technician. The position supports the two-year,
capital-funded automation project to increase physical and electronic
access to the society's archival and museum collections.
Responsibilities: The technician's duties will include processing,
arranging, describing and digitizing collections, converting paper
finding aids into electronic format (HTML or SGML) and adding data to
the Horizon automated library system.
Qualifications: A well-qualified candidate will have a bachelor's
degree in history, library science or related discipline and at least
one year's experience in an archives, special library or museum. The
technician should be knowledgeable about Ohio and American history.
Museum experience and familiarity with digitizing hardware and software
are especially desirable. Excellent communication skills and
proficiency with common office software are essential.
