Catherine -
The Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee, WI is in process of (or may have recently
completed) a $30+ million capital campaign. The Milwaukee Public Museum also
completed a multi-million campaign within the past 5 years or so.
I am also aware of the campaigns conducted by the Detroit Museum of African
American History and the Kansas City Jazz Museum -- however, those two
campaigns were funded primarily with public dollars -- I don't know if you are
looking for info on publicly funded projects.
My organization is in process of a small $1mil campaign. I'd be happy to
share info with you off list, but I don't know what size campaigns you were
reseaching. Contact me directly if you'd like more info.
Finally, the Kresge Foundation may be an alternate source of info for you.
Kresge is a national foundation (I think it's funded from the estate of the
heirs of the Kmart Corporation) that supports major capital projects and could
probably provide you with a list of past recipients.
As another respondent indicated, I also recommend you contact NSFRE (National
Society of Fundraising Executives). They can provide copies of sample gift
acceptance policies, a national code of ethics, and guidelines for conducting
campaigns.
